Crystal base for inkwells. The base consists of a strong crystal, surrounded by a brass protective band, which on its two narrow sides has built-in handles and its four corners sit on an equal number of brass feet. On one long side of the metal band, two metal sockets are attached, to hold the pens. Traces of such sockets are also present on the opposite long side, while one of them, detached, is inside one of the inkwells. Finally, on the surface of the crystal there are metal decorative plates, used to attach the inkwells. There are two identical inkwells. Each consists of an almost cube-shaped crystal with a wide round hole in the centre to hold the ink. Its four vertical sides are decorated with thin metal latticework. Each hole has a brass cap that can be opened and closed.
