SECOND BALKAN WAR
BADGES-MEDALS
Greco-Bulgarian War medal of the Macedonian Fighter and Balkan War fighter Athanasios Souliotis-Nikolaidis. This brass medal has a round shape and on the obverse it bears the bust of King Constantine I and the circular inscription CONSTANTINE KING OF THE GREEKS 1913. The reverse bears the bust of Byzantine Emperor Basil II the Bulgar-Slayer and the words BASIL II 976-1025. The horizontal metal suspension bar passes through the ring. The ribbon of the medal passes through the horizontal suspension bar. It is blue in colour with a green line in the centre and white side stripes. The specific medal was awarded to the Macedonian Fighter and Balkan War fighter Athanasios Souliotis, who came to Thessaloniki in 1906 as a sewing machine dealer, under the pseudonym Athanasios Nikolaidis to organise the “Secret Organisation of Thessaloniki” and during the First Balkan War was the liaison between the then opportunistically allied Greek and Bulgarian armies.
