1917 Military Merit Medal of the Macedonian Fighter - Infantry Major Vasilios Papakostas. It has a round shape with a suspension ring, silk striped ribbon, golden yellow in colour, with two vertical black stripes and a metal laurel branch attached to the ribbon. The brass medal consists of a solid round plate on the front of which there is a printed representation of an isosceles inscribed cross in a laurel wreath with the inscription “DEFEND THY COUNTRY” and a representation of the phoenix rising. Two swords are crossed between the arms of the cross. On the reverse it bears the inscription “HELLAS 1916-1917”. On the upper arm of the cross there is a ball, through which the ring passes, which joins the ribbon to the cross.
