Greco-Turkish war 1912-1913 medal of Vasilios Papakostas

Balkan Wars Medal of Vasilios Papakostas. The medal consists of a solid disc. On the front it bears a lightly embossed isosceles cross, in crossed swords, with a crown in the centre. On the vertical arms of the cross there are embossed monograms of Kings George I and Constantine I. Around it there is the circular inscription “WITH GOD FOR KING AND COUNTRY 1912-1913” in Byzantine script. The back side bears the three-line inscription “MACEDONIA - EPIRUS - ACHIPELAGO” and a laurel wreath around the perimeter. On the upper side of the medal is an integrated crown and ring through which the horizontal metal slot of the ribbon passes. It has a light blue silk ribbon with a red line in the middle and white stripes on the sides. The medal was awarded to Vasilios Papakostas and when it was given to the Museum it had a metal plague on the ribbon with the words: GIANNITSA - AIKATERINI.
