School of the Years of the Macedonian Struggle. Diorama of George Anemogiannis. The successful outcome of the Greek educational struggle that began in the 1860s was a decisive factor for the future of Macedonia. In 1900, more than 1,000 schools operated in Macedonia. The young teacher is teaching a lesson, while in the hiding place of the house, under the fireplace, she nurses a wounded Macedonian Fighter.
