The plava is flat, without a keel, since the waters in the swamp of Giannitsa, where it was used, were shallow. The base consists of single wooden boards and is joined at the sides with internal wooden joints. Its stern has a joint made of a tree trunk and is identical to the bow, in the shape of an acute angle.
