BMP-1P Type: Armoured Infantry Fighting Vehicle Origin: Soviet Union Year of manufacture: 1967 Crew: 3 + 8 (Commander, Gunner, Driver + 8 passengers) Dimensions: 6.7 x 3.1 x 1.85 m Weight: 13.9 tons Engine: Water-cooled 5D20 diesel engine, 6V, 300hp Armament: 73 mm machine gun, 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun (7.62 mm anti-aircraft machine gun only in the Greek Army) When it first appeared this vehicle was groundbreaking because until then there were no personnel carriers equipped with a turret with heavy armament. The vehicles of the Greek Army have been modernised in Germany and then received some Greek modifications.
