Painting by Dimitris Scooper, a local artist of Naoussa. It depicts a scene from the custom “Janissaries and Boules” of Naoussa. Three Genitsaroi (Janissaries) are holding their pala swords high and the Boula has raised her hand with her handkerchief at the sound of the patinada (love song). A traditional neighbourhood of the town has been rendered in the background. In the lower left corner is the artist’s signature and the date of the work’s creation and donation to the Lykeion ton Ellinidon of Naoussa.
