Women’s square cotton headband of the traditional costume of Metaxades, Thrace, folded in a triangle. It is known as barbula and has an extremely elaborate printed decoration. The surface is embellished with a leafy branch laden with blossoms that have red, blue and pink details. The scarf is trimmed all around with appliqued delicate lace. Underneath is a yellow cotton head-kerchief. The top is embellished with a surgutsa, an artificial flower in yellow.
