Painting by Kenan Mesare on the sacrifice of the women of Naoussa. It depicts a landscape with the river Arapitsa in Naoussa. Three women in the town’s traditional dress have jumped from the slope on the right and are falling into the river water. The frame is made of wood, white with gold details. The corners of the frame are decorated with relief palmettes with gold details. The artist’s signature and the work’s creation year are included in the lower right corner of the painting. Attached to the bottom of the frame is a small metal plaque with the title of the work: “THE DANCE OF ARAPITSA”.
