Rectangular colourful woven wall decoration (tapestry) in an olive green velvet frame. The embroidery is done on the loom with high-quality colourful woollen fibres. The main image depicts an oriental-style balcony (as seen from the interior of a house), which is topped by three arches supported on four wooden columns and decorated by elaborate vegetal and geometric motifs in shades of white, red, black, purple, pink and azure. For example, the upper part of the arched canopy, right above the columns, is decorated with crosses placed inside circles, which emerge from pots and are surrounded by spiral vegetal motifs. Depicted on the balcony’s central arch is a central adult female figure with grey wings (reminiscent of an angel), dressed in a full-length violet tunic (with short sleeves) and surrounded by two children, a girl on the left, dressed in a matching magenta tunic (the girl rests her head on the female figure, hugging her arm tightly) and a boy on the right, wearing a light blue short-sleeved blouse (the boy leans against the female figure with his body, putting his weight on her). The three figures are surrounded by purple flowers and green stems. In the background, there are faintly visible hills of green and violet colour, lush with yellow flowers, as well as the turquoise and azure roofs of oriental buildings (the minaret that can be observed supports this estimation), emerging against a deep blue sky with few white clouds. The scene is crowned by a narrow black band that reads “SLEEP TIGHT”, essentially explaining the meaning of the scene, which is none other than the guardian angel who protects children when they sleep, ensuring that they will have sweet dreams. An elaborate woven frame richly embellished with geometric decoration – consisting of a continuous band of yellow, black, white and grey rhomboidal patterns on a red background – borders the ends of the handiwork, completing its impressive decoration.
