Sleeved short vest (chest-length) of the women’s traditional costume of Corfu. Made of red velvet and filigree gold thread. It consists of five panels and the sleeves, the seams of which are covered with double gold cord. The neckline, the front opening and the waist are trimmed with gold cord. Gold embroidery with spirals has been added to both sides of the opening and at the waist, extending to the sides. The front features vegetal decorations, including rosettes and other vegetal motifs, and two peacocks. There are vegetal motifs on the sides as well. The back is entirely covered in gold embroidery featuring rosettes, vegetal motifs and peacocks. The sleeves are embroidered with rosettes and lanceolate motifs with gold cord. The vest is part of the bridal and formal/festive costume of Corfu.
