Kontosi – Short vest of the women’s traditional costume from Alexandreia (Roumlouki), Imathia, with a blue sayias. It has a round neckline with a stand-up collar and a vertical front opening. It is embellished with a row of gold cord on the front opening, on the collar and on the edges of the sleeves, and with two rows of cord around the waist. On the collar and around the waist, it is richly embroidered with gold vegetal motifs. On the lower back, it has an additional decorative detail embroidered in gold. Fur lining has been added to the collar and to the front opening, and the inside is lined with colourful fabric. The gold-embroidered kontosi was worn by young women and brides.
