Diary of Aikaterini Typaldos Iakovatos. It bears the following endorsements: "1936 Saint Paul and Marine Insurance Co. / Saint Paul/ Minn."
ManuscriptAikaterini-Kate was born in 1872 in Lixouri. She was the daughter of the doctor and politician Charalambos Typaldos Iakovatos, and the only one of Charalambos' six children to survive. The remaining five, Gerasimos (born 1860), Aloysios (1861), Konstantinos (1864), Aikaterini (1866) and Gerasimos (1967) passed away quickly. At the same time, she was the only descendant and therefore heir of the Typaldos Iakovatos Family, as the rest of Charalambos' brothers left no descendants. She married (1896?) James Toole, an Argostoli businessman of Irish origin. Her social activity and contribution is recorded significantly. In two letters to her children before and after the earthquake of 1953, she expresses her wish to act so that they donate the mansion of the Typaldos Iakovatos Family along with its contents (books, furniture, works of art, etc.) to the State, in order to create a Library and Museum. Her children respected her wish and the donation took place in 1963
