Parliamentary Material
ManuscriptGeorgios Typaldos Iakovatos distinguished himself as a Member of Parliament both in the political arena of the Ionian Islands during the period of the Ionian State (1850), and in that of the Greek Kingdom after the Union of the islands with Greece (1864). After the Union he was elected 6 times to the Greek Parliament but not consecutively: 23/9/1863, 14/5/1865, 21/3/1868, 16/5/1869, 23/6/1874, 23/9/1879. . He was greatly disappointed by the failure to elect both his brothers, Nikolaos and Charalambos, in the elections for the IX term of the Parliament of the Greek Kingdom (20 December 1881). Although he was elected, he regarded the non-election of his brothers as a disapproval of his political activity and submitted his resignation, which was accepted unanimously. This outcome debilitated him morally. The devastation he felt led him to illness and eventually death on December 20, 1882
