Costume of Gidas. This is a complete women’s costume of Gidas consisting of the following: a) Black gold-embroidered vest with fur, b) Cotton gold-embroidered dress with velvet “aprons”, c) Woven linen-silk shirt, d) Wool woven belt, e) Wool woven apron, f) Wool knitted leggings and g) Headscarf - katsioulia - married woman, with a ribbon and the corresponding jewellery. The vest is made of fine wool felt and lined with silk maroon fabric. Its stand-up collar is lined with black luxurious fur, which continues inside as a wide chest band to the end of the vest. It doesn’t button and leaves enough of an opening to show the shirt. It is hemmed with double gold-embroidered braided cord. The stand-up collar and waist are also encircled by a gold-embroidered band with geometric designs. The dress is made of blue cotton fabric and is machine stitched in a “T” shape. It is fitted to the waist with a large neckline, to show the shirt. From the waist down it flares with the addition of gussets. The hem has an adjustable black velvet band and the two front aprons overlap each other. When worn, however, they are unbuttoned to reveal the large D-shaped black velvet appliques, which feature gold-embroidered geometric curves and ribbons. The square deep neckline has black cotton edging. On the front right and left at the height of the waist, the dress has two large loops and white ribbon sewn on. The shirt is made of luxurious fine woven linen-silk fabric and machine stitched in a “T” shape. It is quite roomy and the hem flares with the addition of gussets. The neckline has an opening almost to the waist, which is decorated with lace, made of silk needlepoint. The ends of the sleeves and the hem are decorated with the same lace. Its weave is striped with a harmonious alteration of linen and silk stripes. It has the natural colour of its raw materials. In the middle it has an inside band, for shortening. The belt is woven and made of twisted hard wool. One side of it is stitched so that it can be worn double. The other is simply cut, free, without a hem. The predominant colour is black and at regular intervals it has triple blue-white-white stripes, which are repeated in the same order. The apron consists of two, initially equal-sized, woven pieces, which are sewn together with a sewing machine and have uneven hems, in such a way that the top looks narrower than the bottom. The predominant colour is black, which is interrupted by narrow brown and light blue stripes with one white-purple stripe in the middle, so that the designs acquire a bilateral symmetry. Along the sides there are woven light blue and white bows. Finally, a zig-zag decoration is formed at the bottom of the apron, with successive machine stitches in yellow. On the right and left of the waist, large knitted cords of purple and black wool facilitate the tying of the apron. The leggings are hand knitted with five needles and stocking stitch. Their main thread is black, wool and twisted. Twisted white cotton stocking stitch was also used to form the diamond patterns. At the ankles they have a horizontal decorative garland. At the point of the calf there is no particular finish.
